Freeme2 is a freeware open source piece of software that removes Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection from Windows Media WMA audio files and WMV video files. This program is a little harder to use than FairUse4WM, but it's always nice to have an alternative in case FairUse4WM does not work.

FairUse4WM v1.3 fix 2 (or FairUseWM) downloads still drive traffic to this site, plus there is a fix for Vista. I have found some more working mirrors for you to download FairUse4WM, plus the Vista version, from. After all most of the old ones are dead now. I believe the program has problems with the latest DRM protection and has not been updated from version (v1.3 fix 2.) There does not seem to be any activity that would indicate a v1.4 coming out. Especially now Vista and Media Player 11 are supported.

Download mirrors are at the bottom of this post.

Note: Vista and Media Player 11 links are at the bottom of the post.

Yep, it's that time again. A new updated copy of FairUse4WM has been release. This time it works with all IBX versions up to 11.0.6000.6324 and includes a fix for the video corruption bug. FairUse4WM 1.3 Fix-2 is compatible with Windows XP/Vista and Zune media files. So on with the download mirrors!

Due to the popularity of my previous post on FairUse4WM 1.3. I thought I might provide some more, updated list of download locations. None of the links on the following page are hosted on TechRant webspace, or Dreamhost servers.

I might be a little behind the times here, but as you may know I reported on BackupHDDVD and how it could crack HD-DVD's 'unbreakable' encryption system -- AACS. Well I think I need to mention the progress of AAC encryption's downfall. On the 13th of February DailyTech reported that theProcessing Key had been found. This key is reported to be the one key to crack any AAC protected content -- HD-DVD OR Blu-Ray.

A program known as BackupHDDVD claims to be able to crack the so called 'uncrackable' AACS encryption used by high definition media.

It seems the updates for this wondrous program continue, whilst my hiding under a rock also continues. Anyhow, since a lot of my visitors come here because of my coverage of FairUseWM I thought it would be in my best interests to keep covering this DRM story.

UPDATED FAIRUSE4WM MIRRORS pretty much all the ones here are dead as a dodo...

Oh, and yes there is a download link or two at the end of this article.

The developers behind QTFairUse6 did not take long to crack Apples updated FairPlay DRM encryption which is used for the songs sold through iTunes 7. This update rendered the DRM removal software QTFairUse6 inoperable.

Information about QTFairUse6 2.3 can be viewed here. This new version claims to have experimental iTunes 7 support; however, according to numerous reports it seems to work well.

After mentioning FairUseWM, or FairUse4WM the name seems interchangeable, I thought I would look for a download for the tool so I could host it here. However, it seems FairUse4WM 1.2 is rather difficult to get hold of; with fakes on the p2p networks not helping much. When looking for it on them the file size should be a shade over 200kb and the tool will not come with a crack as it is freeware -- those 'cracks' for FairUse4WM are just virii and malware installers.

Read on for the link...

According to a story on DailyTech, it seems Microsoft Window's DRM, known as WM-DRM, has been cracked yet again. Funny how it only took a matter of days since Microsoft thought they had fixed the exploit which allowed the DRM of Windows Media files to be stripped -- effectively removing DRM leaving the files to be freely distributed. This is another case of DRM being cracked, or bypassed, shortly after release.
