Good-bye Tiscali!

Good-bye Tiscali!

If you ever want to know who the worst ISP in the UK is, then your answer is Tiscali. Just take a look at some of their reviews. Ok, I might have been exaggerating, but the fact is they are one of the worst ISPs in Britain -- and I am so glad to leave them!

Ever since September my connection has been ridiculous. Tiscali said I had overused my 'Unlimited' broadband according to their Fair Use Policy. According to Tiscali, I had been using their service at extreme levels between 6pm to 11pm Monday to Sunday (the times at which their Fair Use Policy, or FUP, takes place.) Now this would be fine if I had actually been using P2P programs at these times; however, I use schedulers for my P2p programs and only used them from 11pm through to 1pm the next day.

So according to Tiscali, browsing the web is "extremely heavy use." What really strikes me is when I got the letters, within a space of days, I could not even use the Internet as I had builders in who kept taking the phone line out.

After being put on Tiscali's FUP list my internet connection dried up. Any site or program that required a secure connection would not work as my HTTPS connection connected at less than 1 kilobyte... So goodbye poker, on-line banking, using forums, on-line gaming, so basically goodbye to the Internet...

Oh, should I mention their phone support? It takes 20 minutes to get through to their cancellation team, who for strange reasons, operate very short working hours compared to the other phone support teams -- who work 24/7... Even after asking for my MAC code to leave they did not send me it! So I had to apply for it again, hence my recent migration to another, unnamed, ISP.
