Discount Computers

As you may know, the average joe wants his computer to do simple tasks, and wants to purchase a simple computer that is stable, and if possible quiet. Now, the enthusiast knows buying a discounted computer is probably not the best of ideas. Such discount computers are usually second hand, or ROA'ed computer. However, the needs of the enthusiast and the average user are different and such discounted computers can be a viable path for many. After all, a graphics card bought because it was returned because it doesn't overclock well is not a problem the casual user will worry about.

So although, discount or used computers are a valid option for some, I would like to suggest some alternatives.

First, the user should check out alternatives from the big OEMs. Dell and Hewlitt Packard computers may not be the first choice of an enthusiast, but there is no reason not to point the casual buyer to either of these companies -- as long as they are informed of what components they will need for their tasks. The OEMs can provide packages which compete with the prices of discount computers, and they will often offer discounts, special offers, and bundles on complete computer systems with thrown in software too. For an even better deal, you could sign up at Rpoints and receive 2-4% discount on Dell, Hewlitt Packard, Evesham, and PC World computers. In addition, you might want to look out for some rebates and coupons with a quick search of the web for any further discounts.

Second, if the casual user is feeling somewhat adventurous, they can always try buying from an independent system builder -- usually a computer enthusiast trying to make some money. Systems bought from builders will be more flexible in component choice, and often cheaper than discount computers and the OEMs offerings. Despite this, these systems won't come with the comprehensive cover you get from the big boys. A good place to look for such computers is ebay.

Third, the average buyer might want to even delve into the world of computer building themselves. After all, it is my opinion that anybody with a brain and patience to read up can build a system if they want to. Building your own computer is usually the best way to buy a computer at a discounted price; although, often when building a really low end computer the OEMs can offer cheaper computers when offering good special offers.

When building your own computer the user saves money by not paying any labour costs, so although the OEMs can buy components at discounted trade prices, they charge a lot in labour and markup. Again, signing up and purchasing through Rpoints helps buy computer components at discount prices as they offer 1-5% discounts on purchases from numerous credible sites such as eBuyer, Misco, Micro Direct, Crucial, LowestOnWeb, and more computer component sites.

I hoped this guide has helped anybody with purchasing a new computer at discounted prices.
