WIndows Vista cracked again...

Posted by: NineThreeNine on Dec 29, 2006 - 08:17 PM
Useful Software

There are more reports that Windows Vista has been cracked The crack known as "TimeStop" only works on 32-bit versions of Windows Vista, but as that is most likely the most popular version Microsoft should be worried.

The crack stops the countdown timer to mandatory Vista activation, similar to that found on Windows XP. The timer is then frozen at 43,200 minutes, or 30 days, and the timer will not continue past 30 days.

It seems that some registry tweaking is all users need to do. In addition, it is supposibly possible to access Windows Update if you install Windows Vista with the default product key -- by not entering a key upon installation. This also means that users will pass Windows Vista Genuine Advantage (WVGA) validation, thus they are able to download Microsoft software for genuine customers.
